PROCESSED AND CONDITIONED WATER HYACINTH

Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) can be industrially processed to give a ground and/or powdered material with a controlled moisture content for use as an absorbent for organic liquid substances and/or waste to prevent such liquids from polluting groundwater and soils. The liquids in question can include milk, cooking oil, blood from healthy animals, semi-solid fruit waste, brewer's yeast, sludge, etc. When the processed and conditioned water hyacinth is mixed and/or combined with said organic waste, the physical and chemical properties of the waste in question remain unaffected and the resulting material can be used as an alternative starting material for use in human food and animal feed.展开▼
