Background

Furthermore, it is important to understand the functional benefits of structured phospholipid and the methods used in literature to analyse the metabolism of structured phospholipid in in vitro or in vivo models.

Key findings and conclusion

Structured phospholipid modified to contain functional fatty acids have the potential to be employed as novel treatments for metabolic diseases and other medical applications to improve body function and reduce risk of certain diseases. Lipidomics advancement could help to evaluate the treatment of metabolic diseases and access the health benefits provided by structured phospholipid using in vitro and in vivo models to access specific metabolic pathways.
